We are so grateful with the growth of our small business since we launched in 2020 with one planner layout in two colours. Thanks to support from the community and enthusiasm for our products we're able to keep adding to our product line and serve the community even better. 

We always take in community feedback and product requests and do our best to incorporate them when we can. It's because of you that we've been able to expand our product line so much, especially in the last couple of years! 

We have so many products now that we thought it would be helpful to create this product guide. We'll continue to work on this page as things change and as products get added.

We're always exploring different materials to find the best balance of sustainability and durability. Many of the most durable options include plastics which we always try to avoid where possible. We've recently expanded our cover options to include two new flex cover options as well as coated cloth for those who need a bit more durability. 

Our covers are made with either 100% cotton or 100% Rayon, both FSC®-certified. The uncoated cloths come in beautiful colours, however, they're on the delicate side. If you mostly leave your planner at home or store it on your desk or bookshelf, you might love one of these covers. 

Tip: If you happen to get a stain on it, you'll want to be gentle while trying to clean it. We recommend using a very lightly dampened microfibre cloth to gently dab at the stain. It may take a few passes but you want to avoid adding a lot of water. Otherwise, the cloth may end up with water marks.

If you carry your book around with you to and from work or school, or otherwise feel like you need a bit more durability, our coated cloth options might work best for you. Our coated cloth is made from FSC®-certified Lenzing ECOVERO™ and finished with an aqueous coating for added durability and stain resistance. These covers are also easier to clean since they're not as delicate as the uncoated options.

For fans of flexible covers, we recently added Paper Flex covers to our lineup. These are made with cover weight paper to be relatively durable while still being light and flexible. These sold out incredibly fast when we first introduced them with our 2025 dated planner release and we're excited to include them again. 

We took the cloth from our hardcover books and made a flexible version: Cloth Flex. These come in both coated and uncoated, depending on the colour. Fans of flexible covers who want a little more luxury and durability than the Paper Flex covers will love the Cloth Flex covers. 

We're so proud of our paper and it's one of the things we get the most compliments on. We worked hard to make sure it's a dream to write on and holds up to various pens, markers, and even stamping. New in 2025, we developed a new thinner paper to offer alongside our original paper,

Our Heritage paper is FSC and SFI-certified. It's acid-free, archival quality paper. Bright white, beautifully smooth, and a pleasure to write on. It's ideal for Tombows, Mildliners, and fine-nib fountain pens.

Our planners use 120gsm paper, while our notebooks use 150gsm.

Introducing Archivist 70gsm, our NEW  FSC®-certified paper: Our premium 70gsm fountain-pen-friendly paper is bleed-resistant and perfectly smooth, offering a delightful writing experience.

We developed a bespoke, thinner paper to enable us to make our books thinner and more portable. This is perfect for fans of the page-per-day layout who don't want the bulk of our original daily.

Where are Hemlock & Oak's binders for the inserts?

We're still a really small business so development of our own binders is a slow process. We want to make these locally and as sustainably as possible. This requires a lot of research and testing of materials.

In the meantime, our inserts are made in standard sizes and there are a lot of planner covers on the market to choose from! We recommend checking out our Facebook Community Group to see what other Hemlock & Oakers are using!
