U.S. Pricing Changes Beginning August 10

First, thank you for every order and kind word this summer, as well as your patience with our many updates. Your support has meant so much to us during a deeply uncertain time.

There has been no change to the announced 50% U.S. tariff affecting our Canadian-made planners and notebooks. We have to plan as though it will take effect so H&O can prepare for the worst-case scenario.

What you need to know

What changes beginning August 10?

Beginning Monday, August 10, U.S. prices will increase by approximately 20% across most of our collection. For years, we have priced our products differently in the United States to reflect the exchange rate between the Canadian and U.S. dollar. As a result, our U.S. prices in USD have generally been lower than our Canadian prices are in CAD.

With the cost of shipping and selling across the border changing significantly, we are adjusting that structure so we can continue serving you.

The following things are not changing:

Flat-rate shipping

We will continue to offer a flat-rate shipping option for U.S. orders.

No separate tariff surcharge at checkout

We will continue handling duties and import fees on our end, so the price you see at checkout is the price you pay.

Sustainability and manufacturing

We are continuing to manufacture locally in Canada and remain committed to the values Hemlock & Oak was built around.

Why did we choose to raise our prices?

  1. We considered adding a separate tariff or import surcharge at checkout, but felt that a pricing adjustment was simpler and fairer.
  2. We don't want you to receive surprise fees, so we'll continue handling the tariff on our end.
  3. It gives us more flexibility to find the most cost-effective way to get your order to you, instead of simply adding the full tariff to your cart.

Our U.S. community has been an enormous part of Hemlock & Oak from the very beginning. Your support has helped make local Canadian manufacturing possible for our little company.

We are so grateful for you. Thank you, as always, for supporting what we do and for your understanding as we make this adjustment.

We’ll get through this, one day at a time.

With warmth,
