Our collections become more complicated each year. As part of this release, we are excited to be developing a new FSC-certified and fountain-pen friendly paper. We are also expanding our flex cover offerings.
We've run multiple successful pre-order campaigns, and are confident in our ability to deliver these while sticking closely to the timeline.
We will otherwise ship your pre-order together with in-stock items, so that we can reduce packaging waste and cut down on unnecessary emissions.
Please order separately if you would like in-stock items to arrive sooner. If you've placed an order that has both items together, please contact us to split your order into two shipments.

Utilizing sustainable materials that are backed with plenty of research is one of our core values. We are constantly investing in new material options, and push the limits of our budget to bring them to you! The 2026 spring collection includes books with LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers with an FSC-certified paper backing, made from wood taken from responsibly managed forests and with a 50% lower water impact.
Our other sustainability practices include:
- Using zero-waste labels for printing and sticker-making
- Shipping without plastic and minimizing/vigorously recycling our plastic usage in our own facility
- Using materials with post-consumer waste and recycled content
- Partnering with FSC certified, Ancient Forest Friendly mills that practice responsible forest management
- Ensuring that our materials are renewable and recyclable wherever we can
- Making our books in Canada to minimize our carbon footprint
We believe that ethical labour, sourcing, and production consists of the following:

Pros : it's flexible and light weight, similar to a midori or hobonichi, you can decorate the cover however you want. The scarlet oak coulour is lovely.
Cons : you don't have ribbons so navigating the planner isn't easy (you need to go back and forth between monthly view, weekly pages and habits cultivation). Like another reviewer said it would be nice to have a minimalist version without the extra journaling pages.
Perspectives : I wish H&O offer covers for their planner. Finding covers for a size that not really A5 is not easy in my country.
Overall, the undated horizontal flex covers are my favourite ones in the entire planners line-up.

This planner would be what I would consider perfect most likely if the monthly layout started the week with Sunday rather than Monday. I know they are coming out with certain planners with that layout I just need them to do that in the horizontal planner.

This is my fourth year purchasing a Hemlock & Oak planner and I can’t imagine switching to anything else. The design is elegant, the materials are high quality, and every page feels thoughtfully considered. It’s easily the most beautiful and functional planner I’ve used.

These are my favourite planners! I love that I can start them at any time of the year. The paper is smooth to write on and there are plenty of extra pages at the back of the planner.

Love the paper (and the product) just found it didnt have enough "structure" would love it to be organized the same way as their dated one (months are self contained packets and didnt have to flip back to the calandar view or overview/review sections) though Id be okay with it but ended up ordering the 2026 horizontal.

I tried this planner out. Although aesthetically pleasing, this planner did not work for me. I don't find the layouts functional. There are too many pages in it that I will not use (even if I would have gotten the minimal). I don't like writing on top of the graph grid and feel cramped in it. If I ever bought anything again from H&O it would be a notebook only.

Everyone plans a little differently, which is why we make the full internal layout available as a free PDF download before purchase. It helps customers test the structure, spacing, grid style, and page count to make sure it feels right in daily use.
We completely understand that the graph grid and number of pages can feel cramped for some planning styles, and we appreciate you taking the time to explain what didn’t work for you. Your feedback helps us continue refining our designs.

I can’t say enough about this planner. The fact that it’s sustainable and female owned drew me here and the layout, paper quality and design are what will keep me coming back! I frequently use a fountain pen and this paper takes it beautifully! I’ve been using another sustainable planner from a Dutch company for several years and while I love it, the Hemlock & Oak feels like a level up. I can’t wait to dig in to its use!

I absolutely love the horizontal layout with the blank facing page for weekly. It works exactly right for my brain. The paper quality is perfect. The cloth cover is lovely.
Some things I would love to see before I purchase again:
1) an option to purchase without the journaling. I'm never going to fill those out in my work planner and I'd much rather have extra note pages at the end. (including the pages around the month start and month end) I'm a pretty minimalist and practical planner.
2) for the layout--I'd really love if there was a monthly calendar, then five weeklies, then another month, etc. I see the trickiness of this for an undated planner, but without ribbons or tabs it's hard to flip back and forth in that way.
We have A5 Horizontal Minimalist planners available that are dated, and we'll likely roll these out to our undated books in the future. Manufacturing in Canada is expensive, so we prioritize new options based on community feedback. Similarly, we hope to be able to explore more layout options in the future as we grow!

The undated horizontal planner with the cloth flex cover is everything I've dreamed of in a planner. I love the layouts and space to plan, dream and create. The cloth flex cover is a great blend of durability and flexibility - thank you H&O team for bringing it to life! I also love the rivière colour so much I ordered two more so I can use it for the next few years.
