After being collected from recycling facilities, plastic is spun into yarn and then our ribbons! Instead of using 8.4 miles of new ribbon for our Fall collection, we opted for 100% post-consumer waste ribbons which add class and functionality while helping us do our part to reduce demand for new plastics.

Hemlock & Oak notebooks are crafted by a family-owned partner with three generations of experience. We prioritize sustainability, using acid-free FSC-certified paper made in North America with SFI Certified Sourcing. Our materials include plastic-free, carbon-neutral, and/or post-consumer waste components.

When will you ship my notebook?

We anticipate that the books will be ready to ship in October or earlier, and our small team will begin shipping orders immediately. We process orders by date placed unless expedited shipping is selected.

Please note there is a lot of hand work involved (for example, we attach every single charm individually), and we process all orders as quickly as we can. As many in our community can attest, the wait is worth it!

How long are pre-orders open?

Pre-orders will be open until we fully catch up on shipping.

The pre-order process allows our small team to continue supporting high quality, innovative materials and local craftspeople in multiple industries. Your support also allows to make improvements with each release.

Pre-orders also provide our growing community first access to popular colours, which are not restocked when they sell out.

What happens if I place a pre-order together with something in stock?

Please order separately if you would like in-stock items to arrive sooner (or contact us so that we can adjust your order). We will otherwise ship your pre-order together with in-stock items, so that we can reduce packaging waste and cut down on unncessary carbon emissions.

What do I do if I'm moving during the pre-order period?

If you are moving during the expected delivery timeframe (October 2023), please get in touch with us about an address change. We will do our best to get this information updated before your order is sent out. Just email hello[at]hemlockandoak.com and indicate ‘URGENT’ in the subject line, and please include: your order number, new address and any other details. You can also respond to your order confirmation email :)

What about inserts, planner covers or other items that might come later?
